Folio is OVER!

Two days ago (would have celebrated on the day but was too tired) my folio ended yay! The massive bitch of a folio as been killed off with the help or family and friends of course… or should I say family member and friend Owo? Well you know who you are and seriously, thank you so fucking much!

Although I have to admit I was kinda reluctant to hand it in at the end seeing how it had all my work in it and I wouldn’t get to see it for quite a while. Now my drawing folder is empty and sad looking… =w=” Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to draw for awhile was a kind of put off for me too when I was handing it in I will no longer be able to draw my characters under the guise of school work sigh… Ah well what can you do, was fun while it lasted.

Although sadly enough cuz I was running out of time I wasn’t able to make the backgrounds using only my drawings and had to rely on some photos and manipulating them which kinda defeats the reason for why I wanted to draw so that I would no longer need to rely on anything else cept for my own skills. Also I hand to leave some ideas of mine out cuz they would have taken too much time so in the end my first two finals are incomplete but I don’t really have any intention of going back to finish them. The only one that I didn’t use photos for was the redone version of Look to the Stars which happens to by my last final. But then again not being able to finish does make me want to do another composition using so I guess I’ll do something like that when I have the luxury of time on my hands.

Finals were printed out on A3 paper using cartridge paper which made it look amazing cuz I have never seen any prints that actually preserved the luminosity of what I had done on the computer… It was really nice to see I have to admit. Although for the art exhibition I’m probably going to print them out externally on A2 paper for more impact I definitely want Look to the stars A2 but as for the others not too much but I’m going to have to do it for them so that they’re all even in terms of technical skill…

It kinda feels good to get this all done and now that I’m free I can draw what ever I like! Had some ideas for awhile that I was typing into my phone ended up with quite a lot of things I wanted to draw. Well thanks for putting up with my rambles if you managed to get this far. Ah it feels kinda nice, thanks again to my helpers and know that I won’t forget your help (not too easily I guess, >:D jokes jokes) Won’t be posting the finals up yet will take a little time but for sitting up to here I guess heres a picture that I slightly tweaked in Photoshop not much though like less than 5 minutes, lookie! It’s me! Well my back at least, killed off the colours of my blazer of course partially cuz I have no school pride and partially cuz I don’t like being known by the school I go to.

Kudos to the person that took this photo! =P

Firefly Flowers

Well it’s a raw photo which is quite rare for me meaning it was all the camera no image editing programs used which is actually quite relaxing for a change, was cropped though. I guess this entry will have a more educational tone than usual it will be about a technique I used to use years ago but never got it right cuz I stopped to pursue drawing (cuz I wanna improve my drawing skills to a similar or greater calibre compared to my photography and photo manipulating skills). But since now have a better camera and got the opportunity one day I thought why not.

Firefly Flowers

(hum… I think I need those little frames around my pictures to make it look a little better…)

Since I have a normal digital camera often I use photo manipulation to cover up some of the graininess of the photos or some other technique to compensate. This photo was taken at night, soft flash, exposure time of 1/50 of a second, f stop for my camera is set to 2.7-2.8.

The glow effect was caused by me breathing a thin layer of mist over the lens just before the photo was taken. This results in giving a glow to the brightest parts of a photo which is effective for high contrast photos. This technique is unable to be used in windy conditions because the wind evaporates the layer of mist on the lens very quickly. Timing of the mist is manual, hence inaccurate and unpredictable and yet it is crucial to the product, I’m not even completely satisfied with this photo.

Problems I have with it:

- I was too close to the subject, (about 30cm away?) this made the leaves in the background light up too much reducing the contrast.

- There’s no real ‘dark spot’ with most of my photos I have a least one section of complete white and a section of complete darkness. Hence more contrast meaning, a more dramatic effect meaning, more fun for everyone.

- Too many flowers especially in the background reducing the significance of the central flowers.

- Slightly grainy photo but that has to do with the camera so I’m not all that fussed.

(Under photo manipulation tag cuz i have no raw photo tag cuz it's so rare... so lets add randomness in there X3)

Affiliates

Time for some linking up! On the side bar over there I’ve added blogs that I wanna promote so running through them here we go! I made something for each of the blogs too! =3 I took things that you would see in the front page to make the ‘blog banners’? (click it for more detail)

Trang’s Blog

A life blog that features a shit tonne of photos, follows the concept of… “if there were no photos it didn’t happen”. Often discusses some random things e.g. porn. (that will get you hits… although maybe not from the right kind of people). Look out for the comments, they go off topic and the interaction in there is rare for blogs these days.

Trang's Blog

Blog has a nice down to earth feel so I wanted to keep that concept and spice it up a little. =P

Thee world of mizzMAI

A shoe/photo loving whore lives here (I mean that in the most affectionate way possible) It is Mizz Mai’s blog with an upbeat feel to her blog that will be your greatest fantasy if you love the modern pop culture that Mizz Mai relishes in. A typical girl’s dream blog written by the queen of shoes.

thee world of mizzMAI

Showy and fancy and in your face is the style of Mizz Mai, purple for obvious reasons…

Pumpk-n’s World

A bored uni student makes her way on the stage with refreshing stories and entries of her life. Refreshing to read but rarely updates of her own free will (you know it’s true >=P leave comments to harass her).

Pumpk-n's World

HER BLOG IS SO PLAIN… So I kept that simple feel and it ended up looking like a candy bar… added the ‘55g’ to add to this. Like the bears? =P

Dave’s Shifty Shutters

This blog is hot off the press and it’s a photo blog. Fresh new photographer that will surely mature greatly as time goes on. For people of little words. Lots of growing potential can be seen here keep a look out for this blog!

Dave's Shifty Shutters

Had a simple blog layout too so instead I used his first ever photo to create this for him as well as his water mark.

Keep it up Bloggers and keep having fun! =P
